Tablet

My son's school had a virtual bake sale today to raise funds for the school. It is a regular event and normally kids take in the cakes and buy them at their playtime.

I almost always make 'tablet' - a Scottish delicacy made of sugar, sugar and more sugar. It's a caldron of scalding sugar, bubbling away fiercely for about 15mins and sets harder than fudge.

My son describes it as 'ambrosia'.

It is cheap and sugary and cuts into hard chunks which can be put in small bags that sell for 50p - so ideal for a bake sale.

We are in quarantine so have to eat it all ourselves!

Have made up some packages for neighbours to save us.
