No trains whistling.
Woke up to much needed rain this morning but thought it would scupper our plans for a walk.
Mr PC headed out for the the weekly shop and brought back some goodies for a picnic.
11am, Car packed, dogs in and we set off for our forest walk.
Hope you enjoy our day, photos read left to right.
We arrived at Levisham station (NYMR) which was closed due to covid19 then set off down the stone track, about a mile further on we turned right down some steps and crossed a wooden bridge to follow a winding woodland path, the dogs are having a great time in the river. It’s very windy and the trees are swaying and the tops are bumping into each other, really quite creepy. As we emerge from the wood we come into an open meadow with a farm on the right a sign says it’s called Kale Pot Hole farm (spotted another DS blip ) After leaving the farm we came across a field with Highland coos there were also some calves. Looking over to our right we saw in the distance Skelton Tower( built in around 1830 and formerly used by shooting parties on the moors) worth a visit another day.
We leave the track and continue climbing up through the forest and around a deep gorge, we reach a clearing and whilst checking the map a squirrel ran across our path, Stanley almost dragged his Dad into the bushes! at this point we start our decent down a steep and rocky path (glad I took my walking pole) We finally arrive back on the stony track opposite the railway line when I hear Mr PC Whistle.
Finally arrive back at the car to have a well earned coffee and a bite to eat.
On the way home we stopped at the Fox and Rabbit for Fish and chips and later at Thornton Le Dale for ice cream. WELL we can but dream.
A year ago today we hired Motor Home for a three week trip to Scotland. More on that to follow.
