Sutton Symbol

The Tudor rose, symbol of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, given by King Henry VIII, in gratitude to a young girl from here, who saved his life by killing a boar that charged him, with her arrow. Or, so they say

Here, carved in the local sandstone, on the side of Holy Trinity Parish Church. Wandered round the outside of the closed, of course, church on my way back from a fruitless trip to the Post Office. Liked the light on the glass.

Gratefuls:
- getting up early enough to sweep and mop and wipe handles and clean before anyone else was up - so much easier
- an extremely windy day, plus some rain in the night, feels so fresh; we stayed well away from big trees on our Nature walk, though!
- Hélène bringing me another Penelope Wilcock book to read, can't wait...
