A good day for living
It was a good day for living: fresh wind, scudding clouds - my, how they scudded - sunshine, even a bit of rain; so we took ourselves off to Petworth Park to walk the dog, look at the deer and the trees and just enjoy being outdoors. We had lunch in Tiffins Tea Room. If you go to Petworth- and now is a good time because of the Turner's Sussex exhibition - find some time to visit this lovely cafe with its pastel painted tables and chairs, great food and wonderful friendly service from Niki Jones and Jackie Crew, the ladies who run it. I had one or two nice deer shots but I also liked these trees on the hill with Gill and Pippa out front doing the stalking.
We heard gunfire from a few driven shoots round about. It was like bonfire night, with people shooting as if there was no tomorrow. Then I realised, there is no tomorrow for the shooters. It's the end of the season today so if the pheasants you see in the next few days look relaxed, you know why.
