Bethesda gargoyle

I sometimes pass this gargoyle (from the Bethesda Methodist church) on the way to work and am always impressed by the quality of its carving and intricate detail.

The origins of the church go back to 1828 when a twenty-two year old preacher, conducted an outdoor service from the steps of a house in a nearby street, and I wonder if this is, in fact, the face of that preacher.
