Also at the Beach
I had a lovely morning walk at the beach at West Runton this morning, it was getting very hot even at 9am and the families were starting to arrive for the day, despite the council run toilets not being open, nor the cafe. I thought I'd do a postcard of some other things I saw from the coast path next to the car park - the birds are a Linnet and a Skylark (bottom right). I sat in the garden reading this afternoon, it reached 26C. My new iPhone arrived but I've put the parcel in quarantine for 3 days :)
Day 66 / Day 58 of Lockdown / Day 8 of Step 1 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 363 to 35,704 and it was reported that there were no new cases in London. Today saw the biggest daily increase in virus cases globally, with the virus spreading fast in South America and still in the States. ONS reports a third of people who died from the virus in England also had diabetes, the vast majority having Type 2, but age is still the biggest risk factor. Twice as many have died in care homes since mid March as normal.
PM says Test, Track & Trace will now be in place by 1st June rather than the mid-May promised, it also seems the app won't appear until at least then. Now 25k recruited for this rather than the original 18k planned. Task force to get Sports and the Arts restarted. Rolls Royce to cut 9,000 jobs due to the problems in the aviation industry. Increasing talk about negative interest rates being a possibility - eek! Matt Hancock reprimanded by the Speaker. £800M raised for National charities by British public and business. Antibody test can now be bought from Superdrug for £69. Excellent news that Capt / Colonel Tom Moore is to be knighted.
