Wandering
N’s parents used to call it “going for a walk in the car”. Just getting in the car and wandering aimlessly, with no real purpose.
That is what we did this afternoon. N enjoys driving so for more than an hour we explored the Surrey lanes. We first went to Leith Hill because I had a picture in my mind of rhododendrons. I wasn’t disappointed and our timing was just right because they were everywhere, lining the lanes and adorning cottage gardens. They were almost all the natural purple ones, but here and there there were more exotic ones.
From Leith Hill we just wandered, mainly in a southerly direction. The woodlands looked stunning with the sunlight filtering through the new leaves and the meadows were thick with buttercups. There was little motorised traffic in the lanes, but as always plenty of cyclists. Eventually we hit a road we knew and headed for home. It was such a treat to get out on such a beautiful day.
Another treat awaits us this evening when we will be Zooming with P & P, our Cotswold friends.
