In the green
Everywhere is now lush and green with most of the leaves fully open.
This is my friend on Beckfoot Bridge, an old packhorse bridge, on our socially distanced walk from Bingley around Myrtle Park and the River Aire.
Today is her birthday and it is the first time she has been out of her garden since we saw her for coffee on the 17th March.
We did our best to stay the requisite distance apart and avoid others as it was quite busy. We ended up at Tarquins in the park and sat at opposite ends of a bench overlooking the Bowling Green. I queued for a takeaway tea at designated distances, paying and ordering at one window and collection at another, we had a most pleasant chat which included a FaceTime from Grace and Eda. Eda sang Happy Birthday and got a cake from her tea-set with 3 candles (she would need quite a lot more!)
I hope she enjoyed her outing, she has no family near, her grandchildren are in Canada so it’s very hard for her. I’ve no doubt she will be in touch with them all via technology before the day is out.
I walked home via Beckfoot Lane and Low Park. The climb up the Lane was better for my knee than the steps up through Mouse Woods. No problems walking just a bit of a struggle over some of the stiles.
Stay safe everyone and follow ...... the extra! (From our neighbourhood artist!)
