Signs of the Times.
The day started badly, Mrs TD stole the Bounty Bar from my lunch pack before I got up. It was fortunate both that I noticed before I left and also that I keep a store of them in the garage. That's the way I'm treated after letting her buy the lamp.
Then there was the argument with a car driver on the way to the start of today's run. He carried out a violent, unpredictable and un-necessary manoeuvre into the cycle lane which enabled him to over-take a single car. He hadn't seen me either out of his side window or in his wing mirror, this was in large part because the silly idiot had heavily tinted windows. I don't yet have the hardened blipper's instincts, I should have photographed him, used the picture for today's blip, offered him my card so that he could see himself tonight, and then told the police for good measure. I'll try to remember that for next time.
I had left home with the sun shining brightly out of a clear blue sky. Ten minutes later it was hissing down with icy cold rain. An hour or so later there was a window of opportunity with the weather as we reached South Queensferry, I took a picture of the bridges that would have made a nice blip but everybody and their mother does that, however, I had already bagged this warning for obsessive sat-nav users; I don't consider myself obsessive as I only have two of them on the trike. By lunchtime I had noticed that my mud flap had disappeared which accounted for my cold wet feet, a discomfort that wasn't resolved until after I had arrived home.
We had a little problem at the bridge on the way back, it was closed to cyclists because of the high winds; the bridge authorities did suggest that we go back to Inverkeithing and catch the train, they obviously haven't tried to get eleven bikes and a trike on a modern British Rail service. In the end they offered two trucks and ferried us across two at a time, a limit imposed by the seating accommodation in the cabs.
Afternoon coffee was taken at Craigie's for the second week running, this seemed to be especially planned by the run leader who stocked up with sausages while we were there; they are rather nice, we had some for tea this evening. The coffee and cakes weren't bad either.
