'Lily of the valley is known for its pure white, bell-shaped flowers and unforgettable perfume. This shade-loving plant is also a tough and reliable ground cover that will grow almost everywhere in the country. Planted beneath shade trees, on steep banks or against a foundation, it will give you a lush carpet of green from spring to fall.'
I was given a clump of this a few years ago, but told to plant it in a pot, as it is very invasive. And from what the internet says above it seems to be so. It is a beautiful wee flower though, and this is its time to bloom.
During this pandemic our council have discontinued grass cutting.... very understandable, but we have a lot of grass verges and areas in our town, which makes it a lovely place, but has to be kept in check.
The people in the flats near us have taken things into their own hands, and have joined together to purchase a petrol driven lawn mower, and a group are cutting all the grass surrounding their building, and quite a bit besides. A community effort, much to be commended.
And an additional bonus of this is that everyone is getting to know everyone in the area.
A pleasant enough day although not so warm, not a day to sit outside, but I have been out walking in the garden quite a bit.
