Natural selection

A sad encounter this morning. It was quite windy last night and this unfortunate heron chick had been blown out of its nest. Sadly the 50 foot fall through the trees had caused serious injuries and the poor thing was quite unable to use its legs. A bit of a quandary as to what to do for the best but I decided that putting it out of its misery was the best option.
