Flower Friday.: : Lavatera

Up early for an 8am Pilates class followed by virtual coffee with the usual suspects. Our internet connection was bad so nobody was too unhappy when we were unceremoniously cut off after 40 minutes. The pressure is on from zoom to pay for an 'executive' upgrade. I can't say as I blame them as I can't see how they make any money otherwise, but I'm not going to do it.

I've gotten out of the habit of looking at the calendar since there is nothing on it, but it turns out that isn't true. There was one appointment for the entire month of May and it was a dermatology skin check next week. I called to find out what the drill was and after being offered the choice between waiting in the car and being escorted into the office after filling out a questionnaire and having my temperature taken, or a zoom visit, I elected to postpone the whole thing for a couple more months. I doubt if things will have changed much, but going there is a big enough ordeal as it is without added complications.

The sun has been out all day, so I spent some time in the garden where I tried to catch the sun on the lavatera. When I was a little girl, there  were peas planted next to the clothesline. While my mother pegged out the wash, I would pick peas and eat them straight off the vine. I revisited that simple pleasure in our own garden today...minus the clothesline which isn't anywhere near the peas or the laavatera....

I think I have made as many quilt squares as I want now, and spent some time trying to figure out a way to pin them to a sheet and hang them on the wall so I can look at them and possibly move them around before I begin to sew them together.  I used to have a proper quilt rail on the wall in my sewing room in Berkeley, but here the walls are full of windows and doors!  Since guests probably won't be an option for a long, time  I'm considering  turning the guest room into a sewing room, but I don't really know how many more quilts I'm likely to make. It seems that the simpler life becomes, the more complicated it feels to make any kind of decision....

I still have that TGIF feeling on Fridays, even though there is absolutely nothing that distinguishes Friday from any other day of the week...We're looking forward to a zoom cocktail hour with Walking Wombat, though probably no cocktails for her since it will be 11am on Saturday in Australia.
