Mont St Michel. Brittany

Our last day in France. 4 hour coastal walk and a picnic on a beach - in January. The weather was lovely. We managed . just about, to squeeze in a trip to Mont St Michel - not on the itinerary. We got there in the pre-sunset and wandered around not knowing whether to look at the sky or the Abby.
The streets reminded me of Diagon Alley from Harry Potter.
The sunset was phenomenally crimson and a distraction on the shuttle back to the main land. Everyone was hungry and we were to head off to a restaurant. However, the monument looked so lovely I had to attempt to capture it. No tripod and a 30mm kit lens, impatient friends and a black hole in my knowledge of f stops and shutter speeds.
There were several disasters . I tried the self timer as a mechanism of less judder. My friends walked off. Hungry.
One more shot and I legged it off after them.
My DSLR is so old the screen is the size of a postage stamp so I couldnt see the results til on the computer two days later.
I was pleased with it. The sun set shots and beach shots were probably prettier but I'll remember the fun of fiddling to get this one.
