Duck

Went to OT for my weekly visit (so it must be Thursday) - lots of sand martins zooming around me on Ocean Drive, the sweeties. Noticed that the swan on her nest under the bridge seemed a bit restless and wondered if there was some activity beneath her. Later read on Twitter that they'd hatched - 10 cygnets!

Heard that our old friend Norma who has been very poorly had her heart op successfully this morning - a shiny new valve, apparently. So instead of clapping out of the window at 8pm we played a CD of her glorious singing - 'When First I Came to Caledonia', at full blast. :-)

The mallard was sitting at the edge of the Shore - there were 3 males swimming around in the water below, presumably vying for her attention. She seemed unimpressed.
