Are you feeling hot?

Hi Everyone,

Another experiment on the lathe… as it is quite an old bit of kit there is a know issue that if you run them for to long whilst under a bit of strain the temperature increases to much and the electric motor can go pop… Actually, that’s a bit like me on the bike nowadays.

So, the plan is stick this thermometer strip to the electric motor and week how the temperature changes under various conditions. If it works then it might be a good cheap (£1.99 for 3) early warning system. I can’t claim to have come up with this wonderful idea as I saw a chap using the temperature strip to ensure his machine was warmed up before using so I thought it would most likely work for overheating too.
