Meeting the parents

Three of our four kids have met and married wonderful people. The kind of people that are easy to love and appreciate.

The fourth, a daughter, has been busy enjoying life. Works for the government, travels around the world, and now she’s learning to fly too. But her life has been too full to think about a man.

But this past Christmas, she began to see a guy from her church. Solid guy, good job, similar place in life. Seemed like in many ways a good possible fit together.

They were going to fly out here for a few days around Easter time and meet the parents and then the whole world fell apart.

So tonight we finally sat down and after an awkward start, we met the guy and had a good visit by video. He seems to be a genuinely good guy, especially for her.

What an odd thing it is to meet possible mates for your children by video. I mean I’m glad for at least that opportunity, but I never saw that coming.

And I suppose if they keep up and the virus keeps up, that things will get even stranger trying to plan for a wedding.

So many new things these days. It’s a strange new world we find ourselves in.

At least love is still love and the future can still be faced together.

Gives one hope.
