Earning their keep!
A very busy and productive day to make up for a few rather unproductive ones. I managed to get a full coat of white paint on the ceiling this morning before sitting and watching a wonderful display of blue tit acrobatics. We have had quite a lot of activity in the garden today. Recently I have been carefully following my hero Geoff Hamilton's advice to gently rub off greenfly from roses rather than use pesticides etc but wondered at what point the birds would show their appreciation of my attempt at wildlife friendly gardening and give a hand. I told them it's ok just coming and filling up on fat balls and seeds but there are bugs to be eaten too. Anyway today I watched this blue tit gathering seeds but also giving the rose bushes a good de bugging (see extra) and looking closely at the extra there is plenty for everyone!
A coat of paint on the walls this afternoon and a half hour weeding the war memorial with a couple of ladies who were very suprised when I offered to help, apparently it hasn't happened before! I also saw a rather beautiful little blue butterfly in the community garden but the photo I took was a bit miserable so hopefully I will have a better one soon.
I'm defintiely ready for my bed now.
