Fields of Sunshine
The wind had dropped somewhat so I decided on a morning walk. My path took me across a large field sown with oil seed rape. See extras. Nothing is guaranteed to lift the spirits like the yellow carpets of this crop in flower, along with the sight of butterflies (small white, green-veined white and orange tip) fluttering along, swifts soaring overhead and the sound of skylarks singing madly from a great height. Later in the year, the crop will provide a feast for goldfinch and linnet.
