Who Put Bella in the Witch Elm....

At last we can head out for our exercise today courtesy of Boris so we headed up to Wychbury Wood on the Lord Cobham estate.
Lots of follies all around the estate. This Monument and down further is the Chainey House, both big follies.

Wrote on this Obelisk  is the words "Who Put Bella in the Witch Elm".
This refers to 1943 when a skeleton of a woman was found in a tree trunk by 4 lads who were after birds eggs.

Good walk we had, and Mrs BM has never seen this before whilst I always played up here when l was a kid.
