Into the depths
A tree bee is disappearing into the depths of a rose, she will be submerged in the flower for 20 seconds or more. The bees love this magnificent old rose, unlike so many of the showy new varieties that have nothing to offer but sterile, nectarless flowers.
Following the issue of the new Stay Alert guidance, we walked down to the front in the evening. It was cool but bright, and there were still few people about. That's ok, so long as everyone takes care to keep their distance and we don't see the sort of group behaviour that was evident the weekend before the lockdown started.
