Beauty in brokeness.

What a day. We spent it walking around 2 different locations...one is called Figueretes and it's home to the Senegalese, Moroccans, Portuguese and Spanish...very poor and with lots of drug problems, prostitution etc etc...it was quite an ugly built up place, but punctuated with glimpses of utter beauty, namely, the sea... The second place is Sa Penya and it's home to a gypsy community with similar problems...the people are hated, the lowest of the low and seem very isolated from the rest of the island. We walked around and in it and felt as if we were in a favela - lots of tiny skinny streets with steep steps from one level to another, people sat out on steps, shouting from one house to another... And it totally grabbed our hearts... Figueretes grabbed our heads, but Sa Penya definitely moved us...
I was totally stuck for what to blip, but I liked this photo...this photo is of Sa Penya from above - it's the homes at the bottom of the photo - across the bay are the super rich and elite apartments - - a poverty versus decadence face-off.
