This is an Equalizer pedal, allows the sound to be sculpted a bit. 

Alf wanted to try it, so I dug it out of the garage for him. It is a very common Boss unit, which has been upgraded by a chap called Adrian Thorpe who is a former bomb disposal expert.. Funny old world.
