Mirage?

In many ways Canary Wharf is not real.

It’s footings are real enough, the polyp of the Isle of Dogs would be mistily recognisable to mariners even now, even though the howling of the once-resident Royal Hounds is now replaced by the braying of bankers.

But as you walk through this privatised new city, not a single footstep lands on
‘ground’...pavements, parks and plazas all hang off steel and concrete, three storeys above the crust.

So, Nope, not real...the only thing being ‘made’ is money and there’s nothing real about that, is there?

The whole is a mirage, a hovering, shimmering surreal impression of the privatised oasis below.
