Mayfly In May!
What a surprise to see a mayfly in May. In its original home it was named for the month it is commonly seen, but here in the Southern Hemisphere it should be flying in November. Late autumn is not its time.
I found it while searching the swan plant for any sort of evidence of a monarch butterfly. I saw only one last summer, fluttering over, but it didn’t notice the two big swan plants I’d provided.
