I woke feeling blessed that I live in Scotland, where we have clear, sensible and empathetic messages from our first minister, rather than confused but devious bluster from some "Winston Churchill tribute act".

Before breakfast, I put out the bins and savoured the blossom on our apple tree before returning for another productive day's work, free from the burden of the marking assignment that I finished on Saturday.
