One of these is the key ...
Lockdown Sunday
Perhaps one of these is the key that Boris was so clearly searching for in his address to the nation this evening, but so obviously failed to find ?
Like the pundits, busy trying to analyse what Boris's announcement now means for life in the UK, I am as mystified as anyone else. Quite what this means for those tasked with trying to enforce this little mess of political pottage lord alone knows.
Needless to say, Cathy and I will be erring on the side of caution. The daily rate of detected new Covid-19 infections remains too high to allow effective contact tracing, even if the Government had put more resources into place on that side of things. So for the time being here, plus ça change c'est la meme chose.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the weather. It was 24C and sunny yesterday, but its about 12C and blowing a hooley now. I know that British postmen wear shorts in the midst of winter, but I shall not be venturing back into shorts until the weather warms up a bit again. The "quaran-tanning", as the Guardian calls it, will have to wait. Fortunately, the forecast suggests that in about a week's time things should be warmer, if not quite as warm as they have been. But for now, I've put the central heating back on for a couple of days!
Finally, I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for you kind comments in response to Cathy and my wedding anniversary yesterday. We had a lovely day, and opened a fine bottle of Gigondas to go with the fillet steak in the evening. That was followed by Cathy's orange cake with its dark chocolate topping - delicious (I had two slices!). After which, we settled down and re-watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I think we might have forgotten one or two bits of dialogue - it is a wonderfully quotable film. Almost, but not quite as good as Top Gun, which I think has to be the most quotable film ever.
