Afternoon Tea

75th Anniversary of VE Day. A day when a lot had been planned, nationally, to celebrate the announcement of peace in Europe. The pandemic meant that things had to be downscaled to bands playing 2 meters apart from each other and street parties had to be contained within peoples gardens.

We were encouraged to recreate that post-war feeling so I asked Alexa to play some war-time music and I got out the china. The cups were a wedding present to my grandmother in the years after the WWI and the teapot was my mother-in -law's wedding present in the early 1940s.

I had used these cups as a child, but never again until today.
