Ahead of his time...

I’ve just noticed that one of the Constables was WWWatkin. He could be a website if he had lived 70 odd years later and added .gg
It is tradition that where a public facility such as these parish pumps are restored the date and names of the Parish Constables at the time are shown on a plaque. We did have mains water in town in 1938!
I just nipped down to town with a list for the Co-op if the queue wasn’t too long. No queue; straight in and no queue for checkout either. I did have to wait at the exit because a man was coming in and the doorway is narrow. Happy to that until he picked up a newspaper from the stand and started reading it!
