In her honour
We farewelled Granny for the last time today, and rejoiced over her almost 94 years of adventure and friendships. Her funeral was simple and dignified, and very fitting. My sister read a wonderful reflection of all our combined memories, and people from all parts of her life came together to say a final farewell. Thank you everyone who came.
She loved to have fun, to laugh, and to spend time with people. In celebration of her life well-lived we all went out for dinner to one of her favourite fish and chip restaurants, and completed it with icecream from Mures. Here are three generations of Granny's descendants, carrying on her line of feisty Irish independence.
It's been an exhausting day, but I'm so glad I could make it back for this time. I really must now sleep.
Dear Granny, may you now reside in Heaven's never-ending library, where the light never dims, nor the learning cease.
May the road rise up to meet you;
may the wind be always at your back;
may the sun shine warm upon your face,
and the rain fall soft upon your fields.
And 'til we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Irish Blessing
