Stone Gate Post

I feel a project coming on. I am fascinated by the old stone gate posts that provided the entrances to the fields marked out by stonewalls. In many cases they are centuries old and the markings record different uses at different times in the past. Many have holes in them. Often only one and much larger than these. They would have taken time to chisel out and the original use is not always clear. The modern metal gates are likely to be only passing visitors, replacing others that are already long gone.
Had a trip out today to drive just over a mile to purchase the box of vegetables, fruit and salad, together with eggs, prawns and ice-cream. No need to get out of the car and service with a smile and humour. I hope this continues post the pandemic - so quick and easy and I like the surprise of the contents of the box each week.
