Baseball started in England!
Day 49 - cycled to Walton and found a blue plaque to commemorate the first recorded game of baseball in 1749. The son of George II, Frederick , the Prince of Wales was among the players. (See extra) The plaque is on Walton’s cricket club building. The first match took place in Ashley Park estate. The game played in 1749 would go on, via immigrants to the US, to become the sport of today. The photo is of the poster used to advertise the unveiling of the plaque in 2019. Ashley Park is now a very nice private estate of about 200 large houses in 200 acres. Passed my very closed hairdressers on the way home...when we will we get our hair done again?!
