Stanage Edge

Stanage Edge is a remarkable place to walk, with great skies above and moors stretching out into the distance on top as the hills roll away beneath it was a truly spectacular day out for the 'hardy' walkers of the New Year bunch.

And it was certainly different to the last time at Bawtry for New Year, back in 2009 when a blizzard rolled over Sheffield while we were out walking on the Edge - have a peek at this archive shot! Instead of a fairly leisurely four hour walk we ended up on a six hour slog through fairly deep snow (so deep that a couple of us had to crawl over deep drifts at some points) and I ended up with my boots frozen onto my feet as I couldn't get the laces undone!
