No Exit

This hedgehog was today's excitement. He, or she, had got trapped in the squirrel cage. Len rushed into the house to ask if I wanted a photo after he'd released it.

Do you know how quickly hedgehogs can scuttle?

Poor thing put its snout through the fence but there is no way out through the fence. The education authority built its foundations deep, and Len is very reluctant to cut a hole as he is sure that there is a badger in the school garden and we don't want badgers in our garden.

Finally, he put the hedgehog in a bucket and lowered it over the school side with an assemblage of bungee straps looped under the handle. It ran off into the wood. I just hope it wasn't a she and had left some hoglets in the warm, safe patch under the shed.

My Uncle Dave rang this afternoon. He'd just picked up the telephone message I left four weeks ago. He's doing fine despite being on his own. His daughter gets his shopping for him.
