The calm of the Chrispy house was shattered when an event occurred first time ever in the kitchen. 

My wife had thrown down the gauntlet and said why don’t you make a sponge cake. Baking is something that had passed me by over many years of marriage. She had told our children of the challenge who, having recovered from the shock, fell about laughing.

So the Blip of the day had to be a historical event that was the equivalent of Neil Armstrong taking one small step. All I had was a recipe book and no coaching.

I made my first Victoria Sponge. No Buttercream as rationing is under way.

I am happy to report nothing got damaged in the process of creating the cake and it tasted ok. So I will get another Baking challenge next week.
