Cerinthe major purpurascens
This is an intriguing plant which is quite unpredictable. I tend to collect seeds and sow them in April and germination can be erratic. I sowed about 30 this year and got only 4. Sometimes the plant comes through winter unscathed. This one, however, sowed itself last year and has grown into a huge plant flowering all winter and attracting hundreds of bees. Its common name is ‘Honeywort’.
Made a Lemon Syrup cake this morning. Loving the perfect stillness in the evening garden.
