Beaten

Ten weeks after surgery and nearly a year since I was forced to give up running, I was challenged ( pesky Zoom family call) to run 5k. Didn’t think this was at all possible seeing as it takes a year for my skin to reattach so all sorts of creepy images came to mind but two weeks ago, I thought I’d give it a wee try. My usual downhill 5k run that was my training ground last year until Everything Started To Go Wrong and within six months all exercise was out the window for me as the fatigue and pain and immobility increased.
Well, two weeks ago, first run, I ran and ran and ran some more and before I knew it I’d got a PB.
Two weeks later my sixth run, and I’m ten minutes quicker than a year ago. I have had no doubts that the surgery was the correct decision but if that doesn’t quantify how much, I don’t know what does. Turns out having 8 litres of diseased tissue strapped to your legs impedes your times!
After all this over I might yet be a gazelle after all
