White on Green

We took a short  drive to a little farm  community close to downtown Portland this afternoon because it was pouring down rain and we had cabin fever. It was easy to spot this egret and a couple of white and blue herons  against the lush green backdrop of grasses, bushes and trees.  When we got home  I made an apple pie, the smells adding to the coziness inside on a  wet and dreary day. 
Grateful for...a fire. Freshly baked pie. A clean house.  Fresh flowers.
