Swarm
I have been struggling to make it into the hives the last few days due to the weather, and I have been concerned that one of my hives was getting ready to swarm. Just as I was about to go out to go through them it had just happened - the garden was chaos - bees everywhere. They eventually settled on a plum branch. This was the biggest swarm i have ever rehoused (see extra) and it was so beautiful to work them - it is always an honour to be among them when they are going through this incredible process. They are so gentle and sleepy.
They are now in their new home which is a top bar hive, i am hoping they like it enough to stay. I am now completely out of hives, so i need to consider if i want to keep growing them any further.
Lovely chat with my parents today over the video. The kids had written down questions they wanted to ask, for instance Indie asked if they had ever been skiing and Q asked what sort of adventures they went on at his age.
Z had a bit of work this afternoon then we went on a family walk to the moor - i have to say this was the first time since lockdown that i was shocked by the lack of social distancing. There were Groups of kids listening to music all over the place.
