Hailes Castle

As Molly went on what is becoming her regular Saturday morning walk to East Linton with Henry and his owners I decided to go out on the bike for some exercise. I cycled via Hailes Castle to East Linton and back by Markle. 
The Hailes Castle site is closed because of the present situation but it was possible to get a picture from the road. Hailes Castle belonged to the Hepburn family and dates from about the 14th century. Mary Queen of Scots was, apparently, entertained there by James Hepburn the 4th Earl of Bothwell.
The afternoon was spent working in the garden potting up some seedlings.
