Claret Cup Cactus

My entry for Wild Flower Week. The clarets are really coming on now.  I haven't been successful growing them in the yard, but they are very happy on hilltop ridges in the foothills of the Sandia Mts, as well as all across the wild places of New Mexico..Beautiful to look at, but they have a prickly nature ;-)
