Tulip...

Lock down day 37.

It rained most of yesterday and for a good part of the night too... This morning the very last of Margarets tulips looked so good with water droplets and the even light... I just had to have a photo there and then. This was done on our patio with a black card behind...

The rest of the day I've spent being mugged down memory lane, looking at and scanning old negatives...

The extras...

1.
Our trusty FV434...

2.
As well as FV434s we had this Stalwart HMLC (High Mobility Load Carrier) fitted with a HIAB crane and a cargo bay that could carry a power-pack for a Chieftain MBT. Valued as a vehicle that could go almost anywhere including swimming rivers, this one pulled off a forest track and got itself stuck...

The sharp-eyed will spot the camp-bike, essential equipment on these exercises...

3.
While I was with the 2nd Tank Regiment they changed role from Chieftain MBT (Main Battle Tank) to reconnaissance and a regiments worth of CVR(T) Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) arrived on a train to our barracks in Munster. These were pretty much brand new Scorpions...

There was a defect that affected the early models of this vehicle... the latch that held up the driver's seat in the head-up position was weak and sometimes gave-way... It was difficult for the driver to maintain control when the seat collapsed under him and that's just what happened here...

As I recall, no-one was hurt in this incident...
