Can Paixano, Barcelona

It sounds like an absurd proposition. "Let's go to a bar. It's ALWAYS crowded. It's not even really a bar. It's a shop that serves food. And they don't serve beer. Or wine. Or cocktails. All they serve is pink cava." Sounds like the last place on earth you'd find a Jarvis. But Can Paixano, "La Xampanyeria", is a totally unique experience - absurd, granted, but wondrously so.

You enter, try to get to the bar (this is the quietest I have ever seen it), and order a coppa. You must eat with your pink cava, so you order a racion or a hot roll and it is very, very good. Every third or fourth cup you must eat something else. When you decide to leave the dim cavern you are presented with the bill - and the bill is always outrageously cheap. Scandalously so. It's the sort of place that shouldn't exist, but thankfully it does.
