Break Out
I drove to Edinburgh this morning for the first time in 41 days. Incredible, when you put it like that, as it doesn't actually feel anything like that long to me. The days are going by in a blur. Anyway, I went to pick up my office chair which our HOD liberated for me as it was his turn to go in and make sure the museum exhibits have been behaving themselves. Decided it was an essential journey to save my back from uncomfortable dining chairs. I was excited at the prospect of breaking free, but the world between Glen Road and Chambers Street (well, Bristo Port) was much as usual. The daffodils at Leadburn are pretty much over and I'm sorry to have missed them. The police of Edinburgh are hanging out on the Meadows. Petrol at Straiton is cheap, but it's fairly cheap in Peebles so I didn't bother. It was nice to see Sam (HOD) in the flesh rather than on a screen, and his lockdown beard is impressive. That's about it, really. I wonder when I'll next travel beyond the 30s...
