Lockdown day 46

Heard the news this afternoon that a young ex-colleague in Cairo has passed away - suddenly and no physical illness. One can only speculate as nothing has been said officially by her family or friends and probably won't be, just hinted at. Very sad, she would have been just in her early to mid 30s. I trained her sister on a teacher training course there a few years ago, so at least I was able to send my condolences directly. WhatsApps back and forward between a group of us and Facebook messages meant that it was never far from my thoughts all day. The BC Cairo hasn't had to look far for its troubles these last 6 months or so. Rest in peace MM.

Apart from that, I made chicken stock in the afternoon and an apple crumble. The stock is for tomorrow's soup-making, but the crumble for dessert tonight was delicious! It's a big dish, so I might have to freeze half! A slightly different recipe, which included adding some marmalade, oats, fresh orange juice and the crumble was drizzled with syrup. Dinner was sausages, beans, eggs and fried onions. Easy, a bit cholesterol high, but was delicious! Calories? None on a Tuesday ;-)

I wanted a change from our nighttime viewing of a Killing Eve, so we have started to watch Years and Years, just the first episode but it looks very promising!

My blip's of us taking part in the Sofa Singers singalong, Gold by Spandau Ballet tonight. My heart wasn't fully in it tonight, but still good to do and I take my hat off to James Sills and his team for doing this twice a week. There were over 500 people there online last night, from as far away as Adelaide, where it was 4am I believe! The thing Bb is holding is a tambourine from Cairo, with Uum Kulthum's face on it!
