Ceanothus, or Californian Lilac

I had this in a tub for years and it was a nice size, then I planted it in the garden and it was like Jacks beanstalk, it grew and grew now it takes up a very large space but it's always petty at this time of year.

Very cold today. spent afternoon sewing now my eyes are tired.
