Beach!
A gorgeous day and we were out pretty smartish to Patons Rock and miles of beach. Himself was worried it might be packed but we had it almost to ourselves. Blissful to be out and Esme had a wonderful busy time collecting shells, burying her feet and sitting in the water still in her trousers! The tideline was littered with exotic shells - I loved these iradescent, translucent ones. No idea what they are but once away from the beach they lose there glimmer. Two other excitements - we saw a sand dollar, slowly burying itself. Like a flat, daisy marked sea anemone. And we saw a parrot in a tree making a very odd noise. Not sure if it was a Kaka or a kea!
After Esme's lunch and snooze we then went to Pupu Springs, just beautiful.
Level 3 and we're allowed a bit more movement in our region- visits to the beach, surfing, low-key tramping. Social distancing has to be maintained but you can extend your bubble slightly so families can be reunited. Takeaways and businesses can open if they can prove they are safe and contactless. I gather MacDonald's have been rammed but we preferred the beach.
