truth doesn't change

Tonight we are watching E.T., a Christmas gift to Ezra from his Pop Pops and Grammy. Released in 1982, E.T. was tested at the Cannes Film Festival as an unofficial entry; but received a standing ovation and went on to be a huge success. A few other things occurred during 1982 as well:

~ Unprecedented cold and snow swept across the U.S.
~ General James L. Dozier was rescued from a Marxist terrorist group.
~ Michael Jackson's album Thriller was released.
~ Time magazine named the "computer" as Man of the Year.
~ A man received the first permanent artificial heart and lived 112 days.

No matter how times change these events are still true; and no matter how times change E.T. is still a great movie. I enjoyed it when it was released in 1982 and now my son enjoys it more than 30 years later.

The same holds true for the truths which our faith and values are based on. They were true when martyrs died for them during the first century...and they are true today as we learn to live in our relatively new post-Christian society.

As the times change, fads will come and go. The truth does not change.
