SO DELICATE

Attached to a branch.
About 7 feet off the ground.

An intricate nest,
Of plant down and spider web.
The outside decorated with itty-bitty.
Multi-colored leaves.

So stunned.
So thrilled.
I couldn't recall how to use my camera.

I watched,
Such an astonishing beauty,
This Anna Hummingbird.

She rocked back and forth,
Inside her cup-like nest.
She ignored me.
I didn't move.


She didn't stay long.
Things to do.
I suppose.
