Day of Remembrance
The simple act of climbing into the clean, alpine air to look down on the Village of Leysin for my personal moments with Martine, was so right this morning. This lady bouquetin seemed to share my grief as she looked over the edge of the Grand Chamossaire, calmly, allowing me to share her space. This afternoon the funeral was held, only immediate family and very close friends were allowed in the church and people lined the street to pay their respects to Martine for one last time. The whole thing was somehow more moving as touching was not recommended of course, and there was a beautiful silence until an outpouring of grief from her son could no longer be contained. My heart goes out to her husband, son and daughter and their families as they try to adjust to a life without Martine.
