If you can't beat them...

Jackdaw (Coloeus monedula)

By our current standards a day of more or less relaxation.   The weather wasn't warm and it was cloudy all day.  We did various jobs but not in full working mode.

Blips were going to revolve round shots of the birds on the feeders.  I wanted a change from flowers.  Of the various species I shot I decided on the Jackdaw as I don't think I have blipped them before.  The shot doesn't do the lovely bright blue eye of the species justice.

Jackdaws are a bird I like, I suppose it stems from "Jackie" a rescued nestling which we raised when I was a child.  He was free flying but returned to the old rabbit hutch we had kept him in until he could fly.  He caused a certain amount of mayhem locally by living up to the Jackdaw of Rheims and going through open windows and trying to pinch things.  Another time the junior school was having sports day in the park opposite the house when he landed on the shoulder of one of the girls in the race.  Eventually the call of the wild was too strong and he stopped coming back to be fed.
